Stingray City Antigua is set up to make sure everyone has a good time, whether you’re nervous about getting in the water or ready to get straight in with the rays. The team are great with nervous visitors, giving them gentle encouragement, while those who are more confident still get plenty of opportunity to safely interact with the rays.

You’ll take a short boat ride out to a shallow sandbank, where the Southern stingrays swim freely in clear water. Being able to stand in the sea, feed them, touch them, and watch them glide around you is a pretty special experience. It’s one of those Antigua activities that feels touristy in the best possible way: easy, memorable, and genuinely fun.

For families, groups, couples, or anyone visiting Antigua for the first time, this is one of the island’s most reliable “yes, you should do it” experiences.

Additional Experiences

If wildlife encounters are your thing, we’d recommend combining the Stingray City tour with the Laviscount Island tour. It makes sense logistically, and it gives you two very different experiences in one outing: stingrays in the water, then giant tortoises, tropical birds, nature trails, and island views on land.

Children especially tend to love Laviscount Island, particularly feeding the giant tortoises with the feed provided. If you have time, the combination tour is probably the better all-round option.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere at Stingray City is upbeat, organised, and very family-friendly. It’s busy enough to feel like one of Antigua’s big attractions, but the team keep things moving well so it doesn’t feel chaotic.

There’s a nice build-up to the experience too: the short boat ride, the first glimpse of the rays in the water, and then everyone realising they’re much gentler than they expected. By the time you’re back at base with a rum punch or fruit punch, most people are still talking about their favourite moment.

Price

If there’s a better-value Antigua experience out there, we genuinely want to know about it....and probably book it ourselves 😄.

At around $70 USD for the individual Stingray City tour, this feels like excellent value for one of Antigua’s most memorable paid activities. You’re not just paying for a quick photo stop: the experience includes the briefing, boat transfer, guided interaction with the rays, time in the water, and a drink when you return.

The combination with Laviscount Island makes the value even stronger, especially for families or anyone who wants to turn the trip into a fuller east-side outing.

Busy

Stingray City is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Antigua outside of the beaches. That said, it’s run smoothly enough that it rarely feels overwhelming.

There may be a lot of people going through during busy periods, especially when cruise ships are in, but the structure of the tour means everyone still gets quality time with the rays. If you prefer a calmer experience, ask about the quieter tour times when booking.

Accessibility

Getting to the Stingray City meeting point is straightforward. Put the location into your maps app or ask your driver to take you to Stingray City near Seaton’s Village.

From there, the team take you by boat to the sandbank. The ride itself is usually calm and short, but you’ll need to step on and off the boat, then move from the floating dock into shallow water. The team will help where they can, but we wouldn’t describe this as an ideal tour for wheelchair users or anyone who is very unsteady on their feet.
